SUPER CLEAN! XXXX Harley-Davidson FLHTC Electra Glide Classic, black with orange & red pinstripes. The bike starts and runs great, perfectly suitable for daily driving with no running issues or known mechanical problems. I am the Xrd owner and am in possession of this bike's service records going back to the original owner. Here's the story am service writer at Harley-Davidson dealership. A regular customer of ours brought in this bike is complaining of clutch bearing rattle. Since in general, clutch bearings don't go bad on their own, this was an indication of major transmission problem, which it turned out to be. Looking at thousand-dollar repair combined with the fact that he had recently purchased newer Harley touring bike anyway, he was looking for way out. The dealership wasn't interested in XX-year old bike so bought it. I put in brand-new H-D X-speed transmission, cleaned the carburetor, and replaced the final drive belt. I also replaced the front brake master cylinder, the brake lines and fixed some other things that needed attention. The previous owner had babied this bike for long time and have all the service records. The original owner, friend of his, had also brought it to us for service and have those service records as well. Over the summer put new choke cable on it and new Dunlop tires. I've put maybe XXX miles on it since bought it and the tires have less than XX. They're literally brand new. This bike has strong battery and good charging system, it starts easily and reliably but like most carbureted bikes it's cold-blooded meaning it takes few minutes to warm up when it's cold. I'm selling it because also have XXXX H-D Softail Slim that's way too much fun to ride so the Electra Glide mostly just sits there.
PROBLEMS: Being bike that is over XX years old, it's not perfect. The ignition lock does not work. There are some rusty bolt heads. Every once in while there's few drops of oil underneath it but anyone who knows the EVO motor will attest that it's normal for that to happen. There is scratch on the back of the front fender and small dent in the left side of the fuel tank. There was small patch of rust on the frame, on the left side behind the motor, there's junction that was starting to rust through so had our machinist remove it and weld in patch, it's strong and solid. It was painted over to make it invisible but have before and after photos. One of the saddlebag brackets is broken but the rear bumper bracket also holds that joint together so it's still solid connection. The bike has been serviced regularly throughout it's life and although it's got almost XXX,XXX miles on it, it is truly in excellent condition. It's been gone over by two different technicians and they were unable to find any areas of concern.
I took off the front turn signals and accessory lights, going for Street Glide look. Currently the bike has no front turn signals and because of the open circuit, the rear turn signals do not blink. Upon request, will reinstall the stock front turn signals and accessory lights.
I also took off the tourpak but would gladly put it back on if the buyer desires. Same goes for the engine guard, the saddlebag guards, and the front turn signal/accessory light bar. I took off the accessory center stand and it will be included in the sale along with any other chrome bits and parts that I've removed -- such as the chrome headlight visors, inner fairing pouches, and such.
PLEASE ask your important questions before bidding and will do my best to answer as thoroughly as possible. Although feel comfortable riding this bike and passing it along to the next owner with clear conscience, can not offer any sort of warranty or guarantee. Bike is sold AS-IS. Title is clear and in-hand. If possible, come see it and hear it run before placing your bid. If you notice spots on the bike in the pictures, it's because it started to rain little while was taking them. Bike also comes with heavy-duty outdoor cover. AGAIN, PLEASE ASK YOUR IMPORTANT QUESTIONS BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Your bid is binding contract, as you know, so backing out after bidding is frowned upon and will bring bad karma upon you.
Lastly, being that this bike is over XX years old, it's eligible for Historic tags (at least in the State of Maryland) so it's exempt from inspection. Check your local jurisdiction for details.
Thanks for looking!
PLEASE NOTE THIS REVISION: Although had changed my official address in eBay several months ago, the item location was incorrectly listed as Brookeville, MD instead of Frederick, MD. The bike is located in Frederick, MD, XXXXX. I am sincerely sorry if this change of location causes any problems. -- rchoffer
