of X. Built by XXX expert and XX+ year BMW master mechanic and shop owner. Originally intended for AHRMA racing, never raced. Street legal in AZ. RXX/X VIN. Virtually nothing is stock. Race Replika of Reg's #XXX bike that he won Xst AMA super bike championship in XXXX. Extensive consultation with BMW Mobile Tradition, less so with Udo Gietl (specifically discussing the differences between the #XXX and #XX McLaughlin bike) and Reg. The project began under the design premise of "how cool would it be to recreate the #XXX bike" and keep it true to the original as best as possible while keeping some items from the period, showroom bikes, i.e. starter motor (push starting all the time would suck) and side stand, etc.  To showcase several pieces on the bike that were unique to the racers, such as Lockheed front brakes with custom rotors and mounts, mono shock (even though Reg didn't race this set up), shorter cylinders, XX" custom rims, custom top triple tree, custom oil cooler, reinforced frame, custom wiring harness, custom seat, race livery and custom exhaust. Keeping the bike true to the original using period correct parts and materials and "cheat" where possible.  In particular this meant using better or newer components that could be hidden inside the bike such as; (Nikasil cylinders, modern ignition timing, hydraulic single row timing chain, late model light flywheel and clutch).
Components include XXmm short pistons and Mahle Nikasil cylinders from Germany (XXXXcc). These were lighter, more durable and cooled better than cast iron liners that were used in XXXX. dual plug ignition system that triggers off the crank rather than the camshaft for better timing accuracy. Late model cam and timing chain was used as it is lighter and "robbed" less power, but required modification to fit under the old double row timing chain cover of the period. The flywheel is much lighter than even lightened RXXS flywheel and makes for freer revving engine and shifts better. Stock gearbox? No. factory close ratio RS gear set was sourced and fitted. Magura dual trap door throttle, NOS Daytona Orange bodywork, top brake master cylinder, race compound XX" rubber (the only thing that would replace). Dell'orto carbs. Front brake rotors machined from X/X" thick slugs of Meonite, yes custom. CNC machined for proper design and fitment, lapped, surface ground and heat-treated to ensure flatness and parallel. Nearly XXX hours and over $X,XXX in modifying fork legs, making caliper carriers, custom making and fitting of rotors. On and On. The motorbike is currently in the shop getting new push rod tube seals and full fluids. If battery doesn't pass load test that will be replaced too.
Over XXX hours total labor and $XX,XXX in components.
I am an avid BMW motorcycle owner/enthusiast, don't call me collector. I'm serious BMW rider.  BMW RA & MOA Life member. have sold RXXS', RXXXRS', KX, Boxer Cups, /X, /Xs, RXXXCS LE, HPXE, RXXGS PD, RXXST and other BMW motorbikes here on eBaY. only share all this to imply, bid with confidence. Prefer domestic sale but have extensive international shipping experience. As expect significant international interest will of course assist at buyer's expense. have many, many more pics but in the spirit of your time and mine are quite valuable will only share once personal conversation is had and mutual interest is established. Sadly, this is to weed out the scammers and TWAs. Where this motorbike ends-up is more important than final hammer price. will be donating of net sales price to BMW MOA, RA and the builder. It hopefully will only sell to discerning new owner. Reserve the right to end the auction early. will do my very best to respond to legitimate, thoughtful inquiries in timely fashion.  The most meaningful of which will post back to the original listing for all to benefit from.
Bid often and with confidence. Prep for racing, vintage rallies, have the coolest airhead on the planet, be the star of your local coffee shop or the winner at your next MOA RA rally. Or, ALL of the aforementioned. of X.  Thank you!
