I've been big fan of these rare XXX Kawasaki Commanders for many years. This is my fourth one and have to say they are fun, powerful bikes and get lot of interest from other riders. The most common statement hear is "Wow, I've heard of them but never seen one!" This is titled in my name, tagged and insured. I don't own any bikes that are completely stock, this one is no exception. The tank is custom design, mufflers are from newer Triumph, headlight nacelle is custom with WX speedometer (no tach but it goes with the bike), front fender was cut so removed it (comes with the bike), different handlebars. The tank is pristine inside. The bike is not meant to be "perfect". There are small scratches, dents, imperfections and other minor cosmetic flaws. The side cover fell off while was on bridge but was able to retrieve it so you will see it is scratched. I ride it. I work on it.
Now when say work on it, mean am "working" on it. That means it is not completely sorted out yet, but getting close. The engine has only XXX miles since had the top end off and replaced the rings, NOS wrist pins, honed cylinders, replaced plug wires, battery and coil, and replaced the cylinder head with complete factory-assembled NOS head. When bought the bike it had WX head and actually prefer the WX top end so waited until could locate one. I do not have the stock carb so this is running on Mikuni which is close to the proper jetting but would recommend some further testing. It doesn't like much choke on cold starts and plugs show signs of rich mixture. It usually fires on the second or third kick, sometimes on the first, sometimes takes XX. I am including spare transmission with the bike because this has been jumping out of Xth gear on me and it can be tricky to get to first when downshifting. I have been riding it with my foot lightly on the shifter so it stays in Xth, but if don't sell it will be checking into that issue. I just want potential buyer to know where am with this one. Oh, and noticed the neutral light is on all the time even when in gear. just replaced the front tire and completely disassembled and rebuilt the front brake hub. I would recommend replacing the rear tire and tube. After ride, get small thin spot of oil (about X" in diameter) by the kickstand, so the primary seal might need replacing sometime. Again, it's not bad but just want you to be aware. Please feel free to email with any questions through Ebay.
