Only XXXX miles from new!
XXXX Indian Chief XXci
VIN Number: XCDCNBXXXYGXXXXXX
Following the demise of the original Indian company in XXXX, there were sporadic attempts to revive what had been one of America's foremost motorcycle marques. The original company had been split in the early XXXXs, resulting in legal tangle that frustrated efforts to revive production and would not be resolved until XXXX with the formation of the Indian Motorcycle Corporation. The latter resumed production in Gilroy, California with, naturally, v-twin, though in order to meet modern-day power and emissions requirements an overhead-valve engine was used instead of Indian's traditional 'flat-head' motor. The new Chief's air-cooled power unit came from S&S and displaced XX.XXci (X,XXXcc) to produce XXbhp at X,XXXrpm. It had five-speed transmission, belt final drive and disc brakes on both wheels. While the engineering was up-to-the-minute, the styling was unashamedly 'retro', the distinctive gas tank and 'Art Deco' fenders recalling the classic Indian models of the XXXXs. Sadly, although the bikes were good, the company's financial foundations were less secure and production ceased in XXXX.
Currently displaying only X,XXX miles on the odometer, Chief is offered in excellent condition throughout. Fresh from recent tune up to ready for sale, it starts and idles well and runs with good responsive power. The gears shift perfectly with an excellent clutch. Disc brakes are excellent as are the rest of the cycle parts including good tires.
Cosmetically, the bike is also in excellent condition for its XX years. Paint is good with nothing but swirls in the paint, easily buffed out. All chrome is in very good condition, testament to the quality over Harley?s build and finishes. The bike sports ape-hanger handlebars and the front mudguard was removed for more aggressive look. The original parts do not come with the bike.
Stored correctly, the bike has gone unused for few years and so California buyers can expect three year?s worth of back-fees at registration. Bid accordingly.
Far better looking than the original stoic Chief, this is great alternative to the far more commonplace Harley.
