Restored XXXX INDIAN BONNEVILLE.  If you like to stay out in front, then this is the bike for you. Starts and runs strong.  The following should answer most questions.  Read and enjoy. The Indian Motorcycle Company produced and equipped the XXXX Bonneville Indian and XXXX standard Indian Chief with XX cu.in. motor. The Bonneville's XX cu.in. engine is factory performance upgrade over the standard Chief's XX cu.in. Clearly, one of the enhanced power factors of the Bonneville over the Standard Chief is measured in the Cams. Standard cams run out of power and speed fairly quickly because of their short lift, and very low duration. The Indian Motorcycle Factory came out with the Bonneville cam and lifter set to increase power, and RPM by increasing both the lift, and duration. The factory had to change the lifter configuration to accommodate the change in cam design moving the rollers closer in toward the pivot shaft by nearly .XXX"; consequently, moving the timing by XX degrees on the Bonneville lifters. The Bonneville's exhaust lifter retards cam timing by XX degrees, and the Bonneville's intake lifter will  advance cam timing by XX degrees when compared to the Standard lifters. Additionally, moving the rollers inward on the Bonneville lifters, changes the rocker-arm ratio from .XX:X for Standard lifters to .XX:X for Bonneville lifters. Therefore, on given cam, Bonneville lifter not only moves the opening, and closing points by XX degrees, it will also slightly increase valve lift compared to Standard lifter.   However, several other factors distinguish the Bonneville's XX cu.in. motor with superior performance, power, and faster top end speed over the standard Chief's XX cu.in. motor:X. Magneto ignition. Two magneto Idler (timing) gears.
X. Larger Cam measurements -Lobe Height=X.XXX" (standard Chief=X.XXX")
Base Circle Diameter=X.XXX" (standard Chief=X.XXX").X. Cam Lifters and Followers are different measurements.
X. Cylinder Head depth of Bonneville is different than the standard Chief. Bonneville Heads-X/X" reach to spark plug (standard-X/X").  X. Bonneville Kickstarter pedal-XX tooth (standard XX tooth). Bonneville Kickstarter Gear-XX tooth (standard XX tooth).
X. Bonneville Linkert Carburetor-Stamped M-BONN; has larger fuel feed nozzle, and different size venturi-X X/X"(Bonneville); X/XX"(Standard       Indian Chief). Linkert Carburetor Stamped M-XXX, or M-XXX will also work for the Bonneville.
X. Heavier Valve Springs.
X. Bonneville Cylinders (intake measurement different than standard Chief).
X. XXXX-XX Bonneville pistons/rings are different.XX. Higher compression.XX. BM(Bonneville Magneto) stamped into case right after engine number.
Obviously, there are substantial internal motor part differences between the Bonneville's XX cu.in. motor and the standard Chief's XX cu.in. motor which accounts for the superior performance levels, power, and faster top end speed of the Bonneville over the standard Indian Chief XX cu.in.  Genuine Bonneville Indian Motorcycles are rare and hard to find.

Speedometer glass has crack, paint around left gas tank is smudged from gas, and left rear tank paint is chipped where it mounts to the frame; don't really notice it since it's under the seat. Left tank is sealed using Bill Hirsch Gas Tank Sealer. Kicker was rubbing on exhaust because the kick stud was bent; replaced with NOS kick stud and the kicker clears the exhaust pipe now.  I just never replaced (the exhaust pipe is straight pipe had custom made, and is not the original, but sounds and performs much better).
