Triumph XXX Hurricane
With only X,XXX* built for just one year, the Triumph XXX Hurricane is both rare and very sought after motorcycle.
And Hurricane in need of cosmetic makeover is even harder to find, as most have already been restored due to their rising values.
My Hurricane is clearly in need of some tlc to bring her back to life but all of the original and important parts are there.
Built in December XXXX (for the XXXX Model Year) it is 'matching numbers' bike with the correct Big Fin cylinder head, original carburettors and the original tank seat unit. The engine turns over nicely on the kick starter, the clutch and brakes work and the gearbox selects all gears without problem. The original oil cooler, its brackets and mounting rubbers, the carburettors and air box are all there and come with the bike.
The original Borrani alloy rims are in really great condition and the original spokes are still there (not replaced with stainless ones). The original exhaust system is in similarly good condition with just couple of small scratches underneath, most probably from kerb. These cannot been seen unless you get underneath the bike
As is common fault with the Hurricane, the lower fork yoke is cracked (most likely why the bike has such low mileage -X,XXX miles not Klm's). new (and stronger) yoke with the correct Triumph part number cast into it comes with the bike.
Having been standing for long time, the bike needs good service and cosmetic work such as painting, new wiring loom, new cables seat cover, some chrome and (obviously) new tyres. The underseat toolbox recess needs to be re-fiberglassed and she needs seat bracket (all parts available from LP Williams & Burton Bike Bits in the UK).
Mechanically, and given the low mileage, she seems to be in very good to excellent condition. have removed the carbs and the rocker box caps when assessed the engine and it all looks to be in great shape inside. From looking around at the fasteners, don't think that the motor has ever been taken apart.
So, it's simple restoration that would easily repay the time invested.
New parts that come with the Hurricane include the new fork yoke, new fork seals and dust caps, new set of rear shocks, the tank decal kit, engine oil filter, footrest rubbers etc. as shown in the photo's.
If you've read this far, you'll probably be at least bit familiar with the Hurricane and what they are worth, but for those new to the bikes, the most recent eBay listing in the US for an un-restored but nice XXX sold for over $XX,XXX USD, or about $XX,XXX AUD landed and taxes paid here in Australia.
Overseas buyers are welcome, provided that you cover all of the shipping costs (please ignore the postage costs on here, can't figure that bit out).
And apparently have to offer Paypal as payment service but I'm not big fan if you get my meaning.
Inspection and questions are also welcome, but before the end of the auction please.
And, as the bike is advertised elsewhere, reserve the right to end the auction early if necessary.
Thanks for looking and good luck if you decide to bid.
