For sale here is XXXX Suzuki DRXXXS. The bike is the SRXXA model which has claimed XX bhp along with very impressive X.X kgm of torque and top speed of around XXX mph (for the brave!). This is nice original example having XX,XXXkm (around XX,XXX miles). It is currently French registered but includes the log book (Carte Gris) and will be declared on NOVA so is very straight forward to register once MOT??�d.
I bought this bike several months ago now and set about getting it running. It had been standing for several years (last insurance ran out in March XXXX). The carbs had seen better days and were damaged so were replaced. also bought new battery, changed the RHS switchgear as the starter button was broken, replaced the fuel coupling between the fuel tanks (this model has completely separate tanks either side of the frame tube) and changed the oil and filter. From cosmetic point changed one of the tanks which had scuffs and replaced the rear rack which was cracked.
After that work the bike ran well although it is going to need some setting up as it is little reluctant to start. It does sound very nice when running though. Other things of note are ??� The bike includes an original Suzuki Key which fits all locks (ignition, steering and helmet). It has an aftermarket high level Marving exhaust which is in good condition and not too loud (this has meant that the rear indicators are now mounted on the rack rather than the rear mudguard). Other than this the bike seems to be totally original even including the toolkit.
After checking over the bike would add that forks, shock, brakes all seem good. All switchgear, lights and horn work. However there is little work to do prior to an MOT. From what can see this comprises of ??� Sort out the carburation, replace tyres, replace chain and sprockets and replace the seat cover. If were keeping the bike would also want to remove the swingarm, get it painted and grease all the linkages.
The DRXXXS Desert Express has always been pretty rare bike in the UK and I??�m sure you will see the value of nice original examples like this increase over time.
So in summary this bike needs little tinkering and few items replaced after which it will be real crowd puller and equally capable of that big tour or just popping to the pub.
